Disk Verifier has just had an update, which includes a new Debian-based live disk with the ability to verify disks standalone. This means that you can have integration with Parted Magic’s Secure Erase functionality, as well as standalone functionality on my live disk.
Why buy the live disk?
Using the live disk, you can use Disk Verifier standalone to verify disks that you’ve already wiped. For example, if you’ve used dd to wipe some disks, then you can use the live disk to verify them in bulk.
This is a different feature set to the Parted Magic module, which is an integration to the secure erase GUI that improves automation and helps you comply with NIST 800-88 data security requirements. Parted Magic also comes with various other tools and features. See https://www.partedmagic.com for more information on what it can offer you.
How much does it cost?
If you buy the live disk by itself, it currently costs £6. If you bundle that with the Parted Magic module, you pay £7 – you save £2 if you want both.
Note for Parted Magic module users
I also updated the Parted Magic module to fix a potential crash under unexpected circumstances. If you already bought it, you will get this update for free – just use your download link.
Summary
Disk Verifier is an affordable, easy to use, open-source GUI for verifying your disks have been wiped properly, be that in conjunction with Parted Magic’s Secure Erase GUI, or as a standalone tool.
You can purchase both the module and the live disk (or both as a bundle!) from my website at https://www.hamishmb.com/html/diskverifier.php. The Parted Magic module was also updated to fix a bug. All existing users will get the update for free :).
Stay tuned for some new PXE and Raspberry Pi – related posts!

Hi I just purchased the combined package and just have a few questions that I haven’t been able to find an answer to. I tried to write the diskverifer1.0.1.iso to a usb and it was missing vmunix. I want to use it to verify a wipe done from another utility? second is there a way to load the verify program on a redhat server? Thanks in advance
1) Did you use unetbootin? That seems to work, but if not, try Rufus in DD mode.
2) No, you can’t load it onto another operating system, you can either use the live disk, or the module with Parted Magic.
