New Feature: A support forum has been added to this website!

Hello all! Last week I added a support forum to this website for all of your queries about the software, and any bug reports you might have. You can access it using the bar at the top of this page, or by navigating to https://www.hamishmb.com/forum/. If you have looked at my projects on http://launchpad.net, then you’ll know that there’s also a question feature, and an option to report bugs there, so you might be wondering why I did this.

Why should I use the support forum instead of launchpad.net, or emailing you?

Umm, I dislike emails XD. In all seriousness, the launchpad.net service is very well done, but it’s not the most user-friendly website known to humankind. Also, if you email me I will reply, but when I get a lot of people emailing me it gets difficult to keep track of the queries or bugs. So basically (TL;DR) I created the forum so it’s easy to ask questions and report bugs, and I can keep track of things better. This way, other people can see any workarounds that are found and join in the discussion too. Also:

There are a bunch of extra features!

So, while the forum doesn’t have all the excellent bug tracking features launchpad.net has, it can be used for other things as well. For example, if you want to request a new feature, it can be done there as well. If you just want to chat about the program with your fellow forum users, you can do that as well. 🙂

A big new feature is that you can use it on mobile as well – phpbb (the forum software) comes with some very usable mobile themes, whereas launchpad.net does not. I will also add the forum to Tapatalk at some point within the next few days to make the experience even better.

Other things to note.

If your query contains sensitive data then it’s best for you to email me, as the forums are public. The log files shouldn’t have any personal information in them, so it should be safe to post those to the forum to get support.

Summary (aka TL;DR):

There’s a new support forum for all your queries, bug reports, feature requests, and any discussion about the programs you might want to have. Access it using the bar at the top of this page. Please use that instead of emailing me where possible. 🙂

That’s it from me for now, but stay tuned, because I’m finally going to publish that post and video about OpenBSD, which I wanted to do a year ago! I don’t know how it took that long, but it will be out in the next week or so 🙂
