Disk Verifier Live Disk details

Buy this tool to verify your disks have been wiped correctly. This is the standalone option in the form of a disk image which you can write to a USB stick, or burn to optical media to boot your computer off of it.

This live disk also includes a web browser and networking support so you can get help. DDRescue-GUI is also included for your convenience.

This will also grant you access to the support forums for Disk Verifier at https://www.hamishmb.com/forum, where you can get all the help and support you need. To gain access, follow the instructions here, and I will grant you access to the Disk Verifier support section. Approval is a manual process, so please be patient. If you purchased the Business Edition, you can also get email support.

How does the pricing work?

There are two editions: Personal Edition and Business Edition. These are identical, and individuals and businesses can buy either option. However, buying the business edition also means you get email support, whereas if you buy Personal Edition you have to get support via the forums.

One Disk Verifier license (either personal or business) is valid for 50 disks, and if you want to verify more disks than that, you will need to buy multiple licenses, which can be done by changing the order quantity. If you are a nonprofit or charity organisation, you are exempt from this requirement, and you should fill in the form here to notify me when you make your purchase.

What license is Disk Verifier released under?

Disk Verifier is released under the GNU GPLv3 (see full text here: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.en.html), and is open-source software.

Note: Most of the software on this disk is open-source, with a few exceptions for some proprietary hardware drivers. See the bottom of this description to learn more.

How long will I have access for?

This purchase will grant you access to the download indefinitely. You can download the product as many times as you like, on up to 10 devices.

NOTE: Older versions of Disk Verifier will eventually be removed to save disk space. However, if you lose access to your version of Disk Verifier in the future, you can contact me using the contact form and I will send you the version you purchased.

Will I get product updates?

You will get product updates for minor new versions of Disk Verifier that fix high-priority bugs. Major new releases that add features will require a new purchase.

What are the system requirements?

I recommend you have at least 512 MB of RAM, and a 1 GHz 64-bit CPU for optimal performance. While it is possible to run with less memory and a slower CPU, I wouldn’t recommend it. It is possible to boot the live disk with an absolute minimum of 200 MB of RAM, but your results may vary with such little memory.

What if I want a refund?

You can get a full refund within 14 days of your purchase by contacting me using the contact form. This will mean you no longer have access to the download.

Detailed License Information

Most of the software on this disk is open-source, including Disk Verifier itself. However, there are a number of proprietary drivers used on this live disk to increase the number of systems it is compatible with. All of the packages shipped on Disk Verifier are suitable for redistribution. The licenses for these packages (and others) are available under /usr/share/doc/ on the live disk.

The detailed license information can also be downloaded here.

Note: This product includes software developed by the OpenSSL Project for use in the OpenSSL Toolkit (http://www.openssl.org/).
