Re: Authentication is needed [Mac]
Hi,
You need to enter your user password. This is because DDRescue-GUI needs some higher-level privileges in order to do the low-level disk reading and writing operations, and to collect disk information.
Hope this helps,
Hamish

Re: Authentication is needed [Mac]
Hamishmb,
Thanks for the update on Big Sur.
Getting an error here saying the Mac App Store cannot verify the new version (for malware), therefore it does not allow installation.
How to get around this, please?
TIA

Re: Authentication is needed [Mac]
Hi,
Please post a separate topic for separate issues.
DDRescue-GUI is not available on the Mac App Store, so this error message doesn't make sense. The error about being unable to verify for malware is because I'm not a registered developer (this requires a $100 yearly payment to Apple, which I can't justify for a free application).
If you right click the app and then click open, you should be able to bypass the error.
Hope this helps,
Hamish
